In GIF Editor, you can edit your GIF file or any other assets used to create a static or animated GIF file.
Create your project
To create your project, do the following:
- Go to the GIF Editor tool.
- Click Get started.
Add GIF
To upload your GIF, do one of the following:
- To upload from your device, in the navigation sidebar, click the + icon.
- Copy and paste files from your device.
- Drag and drop files from a folder on your computer or laptop into the editor.
- To upload from one of your storage accounts, in the navigation sidebar, click Media, and then click the Google Drive, Google Photos, or Dropbox icons.
Add text
To add a text element to the project, in the navigation sidebar, click Text, and select the text preset thumbnail.
Add stock elements
To add a file from in-built stock libraries (videos, images, shapes, stickers, emojis, or other GIFs), in the navigation sidebar, click Videos, Images, or Elements, find the asset you need, and click the media thumbnail.
Edit GIF
You can edit every element of your project. To make the edits, select the element in the timeline or preview screen and customize the available customization settings in the options tab of an element.
Depending on the type of the element, you can edit the following settings:
- Video: you can move, trim, resize, rotate, and adjust color settings, volume, and speed.
- Image: you can move, resize, flip, rotate, and adjust color settings.
- Text: you can move and edit the text itself, change its font, size, as well as text and background color settings.
You can select multiple elements of the same type and apply some settings to all of them.
Make sure the overall duration of your project is up to 30 seconds.
Export GIF
To export the edited project as a GIF, do the following:
- At the top right, click Export.
- In the pop-up window, select the GIF option. If it is disabled, make sure your project duration is up to 30 seconds.
- Click Continue and wait for the process to finish. Depending on the selected export option, your video duration, and applied settings, this process can take up to several minutes. You can click Cancel at the bottom to stop the export process and get back to the editing screen.
