How to add animations in Video Editor?

Animations are visual effects that control how an image or video appears and disappears.

You can add animations, change them, and adjust their duration and direction in your project. Currently, you can add animations to images and videos. Each element must be animated individually.

Add animation

To add an animation, do the following:

1. On the timeline, select an image or video.
2. In the options, select the Animations tab.
3. Select In to animate how the element appears or Out to animate how it disappears.
4. Hover over the animation to preview it, then click it to apply.

You can use different animations at the start and end of the same element.

You cannot apply an animation and a transition to the same end of an element. To add an In animation, first remove any transition at the start of the element. To add an Out animation, first remove any transition at the end.

Applying a Fade animation to a video does not fade its audio in or out. The video's original audio volume remains unchanged. You can extract the audio from the video and apply a fade-in or fade-out effect to the audio element only.

Change animation duration

To change the animation duration, do the following:

1. On the timeline, select the element with the animation.
2. In the Animations tab, select In or Out.
3. Click the active animation settings icon and adjust Duration to set how long the animation lasts.

The animation duration can range from 0.1 to 5 seconds, but cannot exceed half of the element's duration on the timeline.

Change animation direction

Some animations let you choose the direction of movement. To change the direction, do the following:

1. On the timeline, select the element with the animation.
2. In the Animations tab, select In or Out.
3. Click the active animation settings icon and select one of the available Directions.

Change animation

You can change an animation at any time. To apply another animation, do the following:

1. On the timeline, select the element with the animation.
2. In the Animations tab, select In or Out.
3. Select a different animation.
4. (Optional) Adjust its duration and direction, if available.

Remove animation

You can remove an animation at any time. To remove an animation, do the following:

1. On the timeline, select the element with the animation.
2. In the Animations tab, select In or Out.
3. Select None.
4. (Optional) Repeat for the other animation on the same element.
