When you upload a file from your device to Clideo, several aspects can affect the speed: your upload bandwidth, browser settings, and other software and hardware-related issues.
Upload bandwidth
One of the most critical factors that can decrease the upload speed is the low upload bandwidth from your ISP (internet service provider). So check your speed limits with your ISP. Please note that the upload bandwidth is usually far lower than the download one (that is advertised by your ISP). Please, refer to upload bandwidth only.
Alternatively, you can check your speed using an online speed test service, such as https://speedtest.net. Our servers are located in Germany, so you may check your upload bandwidth to any German host at this site to get an estimation of your upload speed.
Example
Say you have a download and upload rate of 100 Mbit per second and 10 Mbit per second, respectively. That means that you can upload files with a speed of 10 megabit/second or 1.25 MegaBytes/second or 75 MegaBytes/minute or 4.4 GigaByte/hour.
Thus, it will take 1 hour to upload a 4.4 GB movie (DVD size) onto the Clideo server with this particular upload bandwidth.
Troubleshooting
To fix the problem, you can perform one of the following:
- Consult with your ISP about the upload bandwidth.
- Try uploading the files from your Google Drive or Dropbox cloud storage. The upload speed can be faster as these services might have their servers in different parts of the world, or your ISP can have a direct peering connection to Google services, for example. Moreover, with cloud storage services, resumable uploads are supported.
Browser
Clideo tools run on desktop and mobile devices in any latest browser version. However, they work best in Google Chrome. If you still have trouble uploading in Google Chrome, your browser settings or extensions might be the reason.
Troubleshooting
To fix the problem, you can perform one of the following:
- Try uploading your files in Incognito or Guest modes. These modes, as a rule, disable any of the extensions or specific browser settings that can interfere with file uploading.
- Try removing your web browser extensions yourself.
- Try restoring the browser settings to their original defaults.
Other issues
Some software or firewall settings can block file uploading. Also, in rare cases, insufficient RAM on outdated devices can influence the performance of your browser and cause low upload speeds.
Troubleshooting
To fix the problem, you can perform one of the following:
- Try using Clideo on another device.
- Try disabling your firewall and your antiviral software. These settings might be managed by your system administrator, especially if you try to access our website from within the corporate network. Please bring their attention to this issue if this is the case.
