The canvas is the area in Video Editor where you can see your video preview and perform certain actions with video, audio, image, and text elements.
Select
To perform any actions for a specific element, select it by clicking the correspondent element on the canvas. The selected element is outlined in yellow.
Tip: If an element is overlapped by another element, you might not be able to select it directly on the canvas. In this case, use the timeline to select the required element.
Move
After you add an element to the project, you can place it anywhere on the canvas.
- To move the element, select it on the canvas (or use the timeline to select the corresponding element), and drag the element to any position.
- To place an element in the center, click and drag it to the center of the video. Use the yellow horizontal and vertical center indicators to choose where to place the element.
You can also use your keyboard arrows to move the elements (Keyboard shortcuts).
Resize
After you add an element to the project, you can make it smaller or larger.
To make the element smaller or larger, select it on the canvas (or use the timeline to select the corresponding element), then click and drag the corner handles in or out.
You can also change the size of the text element in the Text section, by changing the font size in the Adjust tab.
Rotate
After you add an element to the project, you can rotate it right on the canvas.
To rotate an element, select it on the canvas (or use the timeline to select the corresponding elements), then click the Rotation handle at the bottom of the yellow rectangle and rotate the element manually.
You can also rotate videos and images in the Flip & Rotate section of the corresponding Transform tabs. Click the Rotate icon or use the plus and minus buttons to specify the rotation angle.
